Hey everyone! Thank you so much for taking time to catch up with me through my blog. This will be my main way of keeping in touch with you while I am gone on this two-month journey, letting you know what awesome things God is doing all over the world!
I’m currently 25 hours away from leaving Rome, GA and heading out to New Braunfels, Texas for some training before our first stop in Hong Kong. I know I will learn incredible things this summer, and will discover countless new things about the Lord, but honestly, the joy of seeing Him work has already begun when the first one of you decided to help me go on the trip. I have been absolutely blown away by how God has provided financially for me to be able to go, and He used all of you to do that!!
I’ve also been so humbled by all of you who have committed to pray for me, and who have shown your love for the Lord and for me through other ways too…there are no words to describe just how humbling it is to first be given the opportunity to be part of God’s kingdom work, and then to have so many brothers and sisters in Christ lift me up in prayer and encourage me along the way. I literally don’t know how to express how thankful I am to you for your support…I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and praise to our God!
Even more so, I am thankful to have the message of salvation to share! I am filled up with joy to have this opportunity to tell/show people just how much Jesus loves them…I’m thankful already for all of the smiles, tears of joy, laughter, and jaw-drops that will come upon people (and us) as we’re able to share the gospel. I am thankful that the Lord redeemed my parents so that they had the message of the gospel to tell me; and I’m thankful that He redeemed me so that I can also now share the gospel with other people. There is nothing more fulfilling in this life than seeing others come to know Christ, and the fact that I am able to fully devote my time and energy this summer to that cause is so humbling and so exciting!!!
I’m sure that as the summer goes on, I will include more detailed prayer requests, but for now, I’d like to ask of you what Paul asked of Colossian Christians in Colossians 4- 2-3
“Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us that God may open a door to us for the message, to speak the mystery of the Messiah…”
Here are a couple of other things that you could pray for me personally-
–Boldness/ Willingness-Please pray that I won’t make my decisions based on what is necessarily comfortable to me, but that I’ll respond to situations realizing that my decision to follow the Lord wherever He leads has already been decided when I accepted Him as Lord of my life. In other words, please pray that I’ll not waste time making the decision to follow Christ when I’ve already made the decision to follow Him. This trip is about taking action, serving, being offensive for the kingdom of God. I need His boldness to do this, because otherwise, in my human weakness, I will stay in my comfort zone and never seek the lost.
–Perspective– Please pray that my perspective will remain on the “unseen” rather than the “seen” (Colossians 3:2); on eternal rewards instead of temporary discomfort. I understand that many parts of my journey this summer may not be physically ideal or luxurious, but in comparison to the incredible things God does through His willing children, our sacrifice seems so small. My few hours of being uncomfortable could potentially lead to a person’s salvation and difference in where he/she spends eternity…duh! Totally worth it! I just need you to pray that we will remember this mindset even when we’re weary.
-Awareness of/focus on the Holy Spirit in me and what He is saying/where He is leading
-Ability to feel and show the joy of knowing Christ even when my heart for breaks for people…they don’t need us to cry for them all the time, but to love on them and lift them up!
-Conscientiousness of my responsibilities
-Desire and motivation to do my best in all that I do (Col. 3:23)
Thank you again so, SO much for loving me, loving the people we will encounter, and ultimately loving God enough to give your time, energy, prayer, and financial support to contribute to making this trip possible. What a beautiful display of the Body of Christ right? All of the members doing their part in getting the job done… I can’t express what a huge blessing your friendship and contribution truly is. From the deepest part of my heart, thank you.
“I give thanks to God at every remembrance of you, always praying with joy for all of you in my every prayer, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” –Philippians 1:3-5
Our God is faithful, and He will continue to be! Trusting in Him alone and thanking Him for everything along the way, let’s all set out to do our parts in this mission! Thank you again for everything. I’ll be updating you soon!!
